The dust has settled on the regular horse show season, and the only competition left is the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Competition. Laramie County Community College will have one rider in that national show.
Taylor Wolken took first place out of 15 riders in the Western Semifinal Competition last month. Wolken will travel to Lexington, Kentucky, May 5-8 for Nationals.
LCCC also competed in the Hunt Seat Zone Finals in Stanford, California, on April 2. Natasha Ogden placed eighth in open fences; Chelsea McLeod placed eighth in novice fences; and Eleanor Pontoriero placed fifth in walk, trot, canter equitation.
"I'm very proud of these riders' accomplishments this season and how they represented LCCC at the zone level," says Equestrian Coach Lanae McDonald. Only the top two riders in each class advance to Nationals, but McDonald says her team's showing at the Hunt Seat zone finals was still admirable.
