The Laramie County Community College esports program continues to make noise on the national stage, and at the center of it all is one of the most dominant players in the country this season—Gavin Thornock.

Competing in Mario Kart, Thornock has put together a flawless campaign, most recently sweeping both Rose State College and Eastern Wyoming College by identical 4–0 margins. With those victories, he improves to a perfect 12–0 on the season, currently holding the best record in the nation. What makes this run even more impressive is the growth Thornock has shown over his career with the Golden Eagles. Known in past seasons as a dangerous underdog, Thornock built a reputation for rising to the occasion in high-pressure moments—often knocking off top-seeded opponents when it mattered most. Now, he's no longer the hunter—he's the one everyone is chasing.

"Gavin has always been a competitor," said Head Coach John Kershaw. "In past seasons, he made a name for himself by consistently upsetting #1 seeds in the playoffs. Now, it feels like he's coming into his own and truly owning that top spot for himself."

Thornock's dominance has been a major catalyst for LCCC's continued success this spring, as the Golden Eagles position themselves for another strong postseason run. His consistency, confidence, and ability to close out races have set the tone not just for Mario Kart, but for the entire program. With Regional Playoffs just around the corner, Thornock enters as one of the clear favorites—and if his current form is any indication, he's far from finished. Fans can catch Thornock and the rest of the Golden Eagles in action every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 5:00 PM on the LCCC Golden Eagles Athletics YouTube page.

The target is on his back—but Thornock is driving like he owns it.
