Laramie County Community College battled until the final buzzer Wednesday evening, but a slow offensive start proved too much to overcome in a 71–53 road loss to Eastern Wyoming College.
Despite the setback, the Golden Eagles were fueled by a standout performance from freshman forward Hannah Briskey, who delivered one of her strongest outings of the season with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Briskey's efficiency at the free‑throw line (8-for-8) and relentless work on the glass kept LCCC within striking distance as they surged for 22 third‑quarter points — their highest-scoring frame of the game.
The Golden Eagles struggled to find rhythm in the opening 20 minutes, scoring just 19 total points while Eastern Wyoming built a commanding 41–19 halftime lead. LCCC shot 23.4% from the field on the night, while EWC capitalized with efficient perimeter shooting, going 9-for-21 (42.9%) from beyond the arc.
Eastern's Rhia Saggar led the way for the Lancers, scoring 21 points with six made three-pointers, while teammates Madison Bush‑Lewis and Yaiza Paredes added 13 and 11 points respectively. The Lancers' balanced offensive attack and rebounding advantage (44–41) created sustained pressure throughout the night.
After halftime, LCCC regrouped and produced its best offensive stretch. The Golden Eagles attacked the paint, drew fouls, and converted at the line, finishing 78.3% on free throws (18‑for‑23).
Freshman guard Julia Sanz Bonet added an efficient 12 points, knocking down four of her six attempts from three-point range. Teammates Nuria Florensa (6 points, 6 rebounds) and Helena Salazar Meinesz (5 points, 6 rebounds) contributed on both ends, helping energize LCCC's second-half push.
But Eastern Wyoming answered nearly every run, consistently connecting from deep and limiting LCCC's transition opportunities.
