Golden Eagles Soar Past NJC with Dominant 4-0 Victory

Laramie County Community College's women's soccer team delivered a commanding performance on Friday, defeating Northeastern Junior College 4-0 in a match that showcased their attacking prowess and defensive discipline.

The Golden Eagles wasted no time asserting themselves, striking early in the 5th minute. Midfielder Jentrie Porter won possession in the middle third and threaded a perfectly timed through ball to Emily Sheather, who made a diagonal run behind NJC's back line. Sheather calmly finished the one-on-one opportunity against NJC goalkeeper Ashlyn Godfrey, giving LCCC a quick 1-0 lead.

LCCC continued to dominate possession and create chances throughout the first half. Their persistence paid off again in the 35th minute, when Victoria Espinoza delivered a well-placed corner kick. Porter redirected the ball to freshman defender Evelyn Anderson, who slotted it home to double the lead.

Despite several more opportunities, LCCC entered halftime with a 2-0 advantage.

The second half saw no let-up from the Golden Eagles. In the 56th minute, freshman Delaney Lucas received the ball out wide and pulled NJC defenders out of position. She delivered a precise cross to Sheather, who once again beat Godfrey in a one-on-one situation to make it 3-0.

Just two minutes later, Espinoza struck again from the corner flag, this time connecting directly with E. Anderson, who rose above the defense to head the ball into the back of the net for her second goal of the match and LCCC's fourth.

Defensively, LCCC was nearly impenetrable. NJC managed only one shot —a long-range free kick that was easily handled by goalkeeper Jaquelyn Martinez.

With the win, LCCC continues to build momentum in their season, showcasing a balanced attack and a rock-solid defense. The Golden Eagles will look to carry this form into their next matchup as they aim to remain a force in the region.
