Moncavo Has Career Night in Loss to Casper

CHEYENNE, WY - Sophomore Kalme Moncavo (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) recorded a career-high 19 kills on 40 total attempts in a Golden Eagles (6-8, 1-2) 3-2 loss to #20 Casper (9-8, 2-0) on Friday night. 

The Golden Eagles dropped the first set to the Thunderbirds 25-20 before evening the match up in the second set, winning 25-18. Casper regained control with a third set win 25-22 but the Golden Eagles were able to force a fifth set thanks to a 26-24 win. Casper outlasted the Golden Eagles 15-12 in the final set.

Rigan McInerney (Gillette, Wyo.) and Shae Halls (Cheyenne, Wyo.) each posted a career-high in digs with 16.

Hannah Rhoades (Apple Valley, Calif.) set a new career-high with four aces.

Kyla Childers (Parker, Colo.) ended the match with 18 kills while Shelby Veenstra (Twin Falls, Idaho) finished with 52 assists, three shy of tying a season-high.

The Golden Eagles play at Eastern Wyoming on Saturday, March 6 at 11:00 am.
