CASPER, WY - Rigan McInerney (Gillette, Wyo.) recorded 17 kills and had 15 digs, helping the Golden Eagles eliminate the Casper Thunderbirds from the Region IX Tournament. 

The Golden Eagles and Thunderbirds went five sets for the second time this season as the Golden Eagles bounced back after losing the first set 25-13 to win the next two, 26-24 and 25-23.

Casper evened the match up at two thanks to a 25-22 win in the fourth set forcing a fifth where the Golden Eagles beat Casper 17-15 to stay alive in the tournament.

Kyla Childers (Parker, Colo.) came close to also recording a double-double, finishing with 14 kills and eight blocks in the win. 

Kalme Moncavo (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) also put together double-digit kills, finishing the match with 10. 

As a team, the Golden Eagles had 12 blocks in the win. 

The Golden Eagles will play at 2:00 pm tomorrow against McCook.
