Golden Eagles Take Five Set Thriller Over Trappers

POWELL, WY - Sophomore Paige Blevins (Cheyenne, Wyo.) set a season-high 12 kills helping the Golden Eagles (6-7, 1-1) to a 3-2 win over the Northwest Trappers (10-7, 0-2) on Saturday afternoon. 

After losing to Central Wyoming in five sets the night prior, the Golden Eagles dropped the first set in Powell, losing 25-20 before coming back to win the next set, 25-17. 

In addition to her 12 kills, Blevins also recorded 10 digs, tied for second-most in the match for the Golden Eagles.

Northwest took the third set 25-19.

Shelby Veenstra (Twin Falls, Idaho) tallied a match-high 33 assists while Rigan McInerney (Gillette, Wyo.) had a career-best 25 digs.

LCCC won the fourth set 25-10 to force a fifth set and going on to win the final set 15-6.

The Golden Eagles return home on Friday, February 26 to face Casper at 7:00 pm.
