The LCCC Golden Eagles wrapped up the Cheyenne Invitational on Saturday with a split performance, falling to Snow College in four sets before bouncing back with a sweep over Garden City Community College. The team finishes the tournament with a 3-1 record, improving their overall season mark to 5-3.
Game 1: Snow College (L, 1-3)
The Golden Eagles started the day with a competitive matchup against Snow College, who entered with a 3-4 record. LCCC came out strong, taking the first set 25-20, but Snow responded with resilience, claiming the next three sets to secure the win.
Despite the loss, several Golden Eagles stood out:
- Sila Yildiz led the attack with 12 kills and added 3 block assists.
- Ella Lopez contributed 11 kills, while Beatrice Nani added 10 kills, 2 solo blocks, and 3 block assists.
- Savannah Cummings anchored the defense with 16 digs.
- Addison Schreurs ran the offense with 30 assists and served up 4 aces.
Game 2: Garden City CC (W, 3-0)
LCCC bounced back in their second match of the day, sweeping Garden City Community College in straight sets to close out the tournament on a high note.
- Lea Susoy led the team with 11 kills and added 6 digs.
- Beatrice Nani, continuing her strong day, posted 9 kills.
- Sila Yildiz chipped in 5 kills and 4 block assists.
- Addison Schreurs tallied 22 assists, while freshman Shayleigh Ulrich added 10 assists.
- Savannah Cummings once again led the back row with 15 digs.
The Golden Eagles return to action Thursday at the Blue RAC, ready to build on their momentum and continue climbing the standings.
