The Laramie County Community College (LCCC) volleyball team kicked off the Visit Cheyenne Region IX Challenge on Thursday night at the Blue RAC with a hard-fought five-set match against Trinidad State Junior College. Despite a valiant effort, the Golden Eagles fell 2-3 in a back-and-forth contest.
After dropping the opening set, LCCC rallied to take sets two and three, showing strong momentum and teamwork. However, Trinidad State responded in sets four and five to edge out the win.
Leading the defensive effort was Savannah Cummings, who recorded an impressive 23 digs on the night. On the offensive side, Sila Yildiz delivered a powerful performance, hitting .450 with 12 kills, while Lea Susoy led the team with 17 kills.
The Golden Eagles return to action Friday at 7:00 p.m. against Southeast Community College. Saturday's doubleheader features matchups against North Platte Community College at 2:00 p.m. and Western Nebraska Community College at 6:00 p.m., all part of the Region IX Challenge hosted at the Blue RAC.
